Spring 2023 Offer #7: Du Nemu and Manaresi

Du Nemu - 2021 Cheló Rosé

Bottom Line - Du Nemu’s 2021 Cheló is a graceful and refreshing rosé (rosato in Italian) made in western Liguria, very near Italy’s coastal border with France. As you might expect, this wine has a lot in common with rosé from Provence. Cheló is crisp and pretty, with a firm backbone and subtle flavor depth.

My notes: “Rosemary and sage with a dash of bright cranberry; delicate fruit with an underlying zing of acidity. Vivacious Mediterranean rosé!”

This wine is currently only available in Europe.

Manaresi - Pignoletto Frizzante NV

Bottom Line - Manaresi’s Pignoletto Frizzante NV (non-vintage) is a lively, thirst-quenching artisanal sparkling white wine made in the hills just outside of Bologna. Pignoletto Frizzante is an ideal substitute for overly sweet Prosecco, and Manaresi makes one of the best examples.

My notes: “Bright citrus, cedar, evergreen; nothing sugary; serious but lean and focused. So fresh!”

This price for Manaresi’s Frizzante is lower than any public offer in North America.

Wine friends,

We’ve received a lot of positive feedback about the fall season wines. Thanks again! When it comes to today’s wines, however, the heightened enthusiasm for another offer was tough to miss.

One member said, “Chris, I’m sure you’re offering that Cheló rosé again in the spring, right?” From another member: “This is what I love most in a rose…so light and delicate, beautifully nuanced.”

Praise for the Manaresi Frizzante included, “We want more. This is really interesting and fun to drink." One member said, "I’m getting 12 next time,” while another said the Frizzante is “A real revelation.”

Fortunately, both producers still have a few bottles available for today’s offer.

Both wines are delicious, easy-drinking everyday wines that will be ideal for the warmer spring and summer weather.

The wines you are ordering now will be delivered in April – right when brisk wines like these become a necessity. (For most of us!)

Food pairing: In addition to being an ideal aperitivo wine, Cheló would pair well with coniglio alla ligure (Ligurian rabbit), a specialty from the region. Lighter fish dishes based on cod or crab should work well too. Pasta with pesto would be a slam dunk.

This Pignoletto Frizzante almost begs to be consumed with crescentine con affettati misti (aka gnocco fritto - fried gnocchi with a mix of cured meats). Please include some mortadella or culatello di Zibello if you are a meat lover!

How it works:

After clicking one of the links above, you’ll be able to request 1-12 bottles. Actually, that’s all you have to do!

About a week later, when we close the offer, you’ll get an email confirming how many bottles we allocated to your account. We will charge you when the wines are allocated.

We’ll do our best to allocate all the bottles you request. But when there are more requests than bottles available, we’ll allocate one bottle to all requesting members before allocating a second bottle to anyone. We want as many members as possible to try these wines.

This is the seventh offer of our spring 2023 season.

Through February and March, we are sending offers on Thursday and Sunday, with a recap of the past week’s offers on Tuesday.

We ship in increments of 12. With 18 offers this season, there should be plenty of chances to get to 12, 24, or 36. If you don’t have an increment of 12 at the end of the fall season offers, we can hold your wines until the next offer season – fall 2023.

Wines offered in the spring will ship in April for $5 per bottle (if you have an increment of 12.) This is about the same as the price to ship coast-to-coast within the U.S. – but our wines come directly from Italy.

Once your payment method is on file, you can make future requests with just a few clicks from the offer email. If you don’t have a card on file, you can add one during your first order. Your personal financial information is protected by Stripe.
