Colle Ciocco Olive Grove in Winter

Olive oil lovers,

After tasting the Cantina Colle Ciocco lineup of wines last week, co-owner Silvia Spacchetti insisted I sample the winery’s olive oils. I resisted initially, saying my focus was on wine, and helping bring our members closer to wine producers like Colle Ciocco.

I’d also recently read that tasting olive oil can affect your ability to evaluate wine tannins, and I had additional producer visits planned that day. 

Thankfully, Silvia didn’t let up (and I took a long tasting break after Colle Ciocco). Her olive oil, from varieties native to central Italy, is top-notch, just like her wine. 

Both of these oils are fresh, complex, and spicy, with the Moraiolo bottling showing slightly more flavor depth and a bit less fruit than the Fruttato.

Cantina Colle Ciocco - Fruttato Olive Oil 50cl

This delicate oil is 80% Moraiolo, 15% Frantoio, and 5% Leccino, all of which are native central Italian varieties. It pairs well with bruschetta, salads, cooked vegetables, legumes and soups.

The Moraiolo is Cantina Colle Ciocco’s premium olive oil. It’s made with 100% Moraiolo olives.

We ship olive oil by the half (6 bottle) or full case only. Olive oil cannot be mixed into a wine shipment due to customs regulations.

Shipping is $5 per bottle for a full case and $7.50 per bottle for a half case. Cases of olive oil will ship directly from Italy in April.
