Dessert Match - Ghiga Fratelli

(Sign up to receive Open Tuesday offers like this one by text or by email.)

Wine friends,

Do you enjoy vanilla ice cream à la mode on desserts like apple pie, brownies, rhubarb crisp, warm chocolate chip cookies, peach cobbler…?

Do you have trouble finding the right wine for à la mode and other desserts?

Today’s featured wine, Ghiga Fratelli’s 2023 Moscato, is the answer to your dessert pairing prayers…

(This wine pairs with so many desserts)

This Moscato is sweet on its own (but not too sweet!)...yet with dessert, it can give you one of those transcendent wine pairing experiences.

Another thing to love about this dessert wine? It’s only 5% alcohol by volume.

Ghiga Fratelli - 2023 Moscato d’Asti

This Ghiga 2023 Moscato d’Asti is a refreshing and light white dessert wine that pairs beautifully with so many foods, especially sweeter foods. Unlike too many dessert wines, this wine doesn’t feel heavy in any way. The brisk acidity shines through, especially with food. This delicious Moscato d’Asti is ready to lift your desserts to another level.

Bonus Wine

Ghiga Fratelli - 2020 Barbera d’Asti Superiore

The Ghiga Fratelli 2020 Barbera is a robust, yet still gulpable, red wine that shows integrated notes of blueberry, toast, stones, and fennel. At this point, most Open Tuesday members understand how much I love Barbera. What could be more fun than opening this Asti Barbera next to an Alba Barbera like the one from Rosavica Benotti we offered Thursday? Even though the two wines are grown just 17 km apart, their flavor profiles couldn’t be more different.

To order, just click the one of the blue links above and follow the prompts.

Here’s Azienda Agricola Ghiga on the map of northwest Italy. The Ghiga farm, which practices sustainable agriculture, is located in Castiglione Tinella in the province of Cuneo. Total production is about 45 thousand bottles per year.

Davide Ghiga enthusiastically told me: “Our great passion is to make wines and we love our job. We work every day, 14-16 hours per day. We follow all of the work, from the vineyards to the final bottle, as a family.”

Food pairing: In addition to my pairing advice above, the Ghiga brothers advise that their Moscato d’Asti “is a great combination with all pastries, biscuits, and baked goods. It is also the perfect match with some neutral and light cheeses. Moscato is traditionally a wine for toasting during the holiday seasons and feasts. The sweetness and fragrance make it ideal for accompanying all the happy and joyful moments of life, like birthdays and weddings. It should be served at a temperature between 41-45 degrees.”

Happy Tuesday,

Chris

Receive a $25 credit for every referred member after the purchase of their first bottle.

How it works:

After clicking one of the links above, you’ll be able to request 1-12 bottles. Actually, that’s all you have to do!

About a week later, when we close the offer, you’ll get an email confirming how many bottles we allocated to your account. We will charge you when the wines are allocated.

We’ll do our best to allocate all the bottles you request. When there are more requests than bottles available, we’ll allocate one bottle to all requesting members before allocating a second bottle to anyone. We want as many members as possible to try these wines.

This is the seventh offer of our 2024 spring season. Through the end of March, we will send 2-3 offers per week, with a total of 18 offers planned.

We ship in increments of 12. With 16-18 offers this season, there should be plenty of chances to get to 12, 24, or 36. If you don’t have an increment of 12 at the end of the fall season offers, we can hold your wines until the next offer season.

Wines offered in the spring will ship in April for $5 per bottle (if you have an increment of 12.) This is about the same as the price to ship coast-to-coast within the U.S. – but our wines come directly from Italy.

Once your payment method is on file, you can make future requests with just a few clicks from the offer email. If you don’t have a card on file, you can add one during your first order. Your personal financial information is protected by Stripe.
