Banner Year Barbaresco - Manuel Marinacci

Wine friends,

I just noticed the largest online retailer in the U.S. is selling Marinacci’s 2017 Rocche Massalupo Barbaresco for around $60, before taxes and shipping.

We sold that same bottle for $45 last fall! (With $5 added later to cover shipping and IVA).

Your Marinacci 2017 Barbaresco bottles were also shipped directly from Italy, by air, in a temperature controlled environment. There were no long boat rides, no sketchy warehouses, and no warm retail shelves during the journey.

Just weeks prior to being delivered, your bottles were in Manuel Marinacci’s cellar.

Wine provenance doesn’t get any better than that.

And as a result, your 2017 Barbarescos were a joy to drink.

As much as I loved that 2017, the 2019 Marinacci Barbaresco featured today is a better wine from a better vintage.

We’ve also dropped the price a bit!

Manuel Marinacci - 2019 Barbaresco Rocche Massalupo

Manuel’s 2019 Rocche Massalupo Barbaresco is a masterpiece. Like the 2017 many of you know, the 2019 shows delicate red fruit that’s almost pinot-like – yet it’s also chiseled and potent. That balancing act is what makes great Nebbiolo a great wine, one that’s sought-after throughout the wine world. You won’t be disappointed.

Bonus Wines

Manuel Marinacci - 2020 Barbera d’Alba

The 2020 Marinacci Barbera d’Alba is the most food-friendly wine of the three, pairing beautifully with anything from burgers to steaks to aperitivo time. It was a previous vintage of this Barbera that first convinced me to visit Manuel and pursue our collaboration. This, the first Marinacci Barbera we’ve ever offered, is a sneaky great wine that will make you wish you’d stashed away a few more bottles.

Manuel Marinacci - 2022 Dolcetto d’Alba

Manuel’s 2022 Dolcetto is an exuberant red showing brambly dark fruit, a floral nose, and just the right amount of savory minerality. It’s balanced, persistent, and hearty, with a firm tannic structure.

Manuel’s love for Piedmont wines (and red Burgundy) inspired him to study oenology as a young man. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Manuel didn’t inherit land or money to help him get started in the business. For him, making wine in a great appellation like Barbaresco has always felt like a dream come true. It’s his own piccolo sogno (little dream), as Manuel puts it.

Wines adorned with the Barbaresco label are made with 100 percent Nebbiolo, a grape that takes its name from the Italian word for fog, nebbia (or the Latin nebula). A cool morning fog blankets the vineyards of Piedmont during Nebbiolo’s late autumn harvest.

Here is where Manuel Marinacci is on the map of northern Italy.

For pairings, Manuel says he prefers to drink his Barbaresco with “BARBECUE!!!” A more conventional pairing would be risotto ai funghi porcini (risotto with porcini mushrooms), which is a great pick for vegetarians.

To me, this Barbaresco is a perfect wine to bring to an Italian restaurant. Just pay the corkage fee and order a steak.

For the Dolcetto, Manuel suggests pizza or a salumi and cheese antipasto dish.

Manuel’s Barbera is a very versatile food wine. I wouldn’t hesitate to open it with a chicken-based dish or eggplant parmesan. Apart from Rossese, Barbera is my favorite Italian wine to drink with a burger.

Open Tuesday has the lowest prices in the U.S. on these delicious red wines from Manuel Marinacci.

We are also the only retailer in North America already selling the just-released 2019 Marinacci Barbaresco.

Happy Tuesday,

Chris

How it works:

After clicking one of the links above, you’ll be able to request 1-12 bottles. Actually, that’s all you have to do!

About a week later, when we close the offer, you’ll get an email confirming how many bottles we allocated to your account. We will charge you when the wines are allocated.

We’ll do our best to allocate all the bottles you request. When there are more requests than bottles available, we’ll allocate one bottle to all requesting members before allocating a second bottle to anyone. We want as many members as possible to try these wines.

This is the 9th offer of our 2023 fall season. Through the first week of November, we plan to send offers on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.

We ship in increments of 12. With 18 offers this season, there should be plenty of chances to get to 12, 24, or 36. If you don’t have an increment of 12 at the end of the fall season offers, we can hold your wines until the next offer season – spring 2023.

Wines offered in the fall will ship in late November-early December for $5 per bottle (if you have an increment of 12.) This is about the same as the price to ship coast-to-coast within the U.S. – but our wines come directly from Italy.

Once your payment method is on file, you can make future requests with just a few clicks from the offer email. If you don’t have a card on file, you can add one during your first order. Your personal financial information is protected by Stripe.
